How to create an API key

Keys are created under Settings → API. Choose the scopes the key should have — a key that may only send messages cannot read opt-outs.

The key is shown only once. Copy it when it is created; if you cannot find it afterwards, you have to create a new one.

Three rules worth following:

• One key per system. Then one of them can be revoked without switching off the rest.
• Only the scopes that are needed. Not all of them because that is easiest.
• Revoke when someone leaves. A key without an owner is an open door.

The rate limit is counted per account, not per key — so more keys do not give you more calls.
