Are our calls recorded?
1 min read
Recording is a setting you switch on or off yourself.
If you switch it on, three things apply:
- The caller has to know. The information belongs at the beginning of the conversation — one sentence in the assistant's greeting is enough.
- There has to be a reason, and it has to be one you can write down. "We usually do" is not a reason.
- There has to be a deletion deadline. You set it yourself, and the cleanup deletes after it — whether or not anybody remembers.
A transcript of the conversation is just as much personal data as the audio. It follows the same deadline.
Where to switch it off
Settings → Data and privacy. There you choose whether recording happens, and how long recordings are kept.
If you switch it off, the transcript is still kept — that is what the summary and the search are built on. If both have to go, the retention periods are in the same place.
